“Impossible is possible”

Amblyopia (low vision) caused by a brain tumor which affected the optic nerve.

I have been working in Dialogue Experience for 10 years. It is very meaningful, together with colleagues creating a social impact. This motivates me to keep going.

I have a motto “Believing impossible is possible”. I can learn Guzheng, the Chinese musical instrument despite of many obstacles I face. I always share this learning experience and my motto with customers. Hope I will achieve more goals in future.

“To succeed, I must always exhibit perseverance”

Hello, I lost my hearing at the age of 3 caused by a fever.

I joined Dialogue Experience in 2011. I am responsible for designing silence workshop. I often encounter problems, but I don’t give up. I keep improving, trying in many ways and designing different props to enhance the workshop experience. I feel glad when clients being inspired by my workshop.

I like repairing electronics and playing 3D printing in my spare time, which require a lot of concentration and perseverance, and help me understand “To succeed, I must always exhibit perseverance”.

“Never Give Up”

Because of congenital reasons, I lost my sight when I was born.

I join Dialogue Experience (DE) since 2009. I attained a successful transformation from working in the dark to implementing the social projects in the light. I am glad that I can add value to DE. We do face changes and embrace challenges whenever at any circumstances, just like tidal, but I “Never Give Up”!

I like hiking very much. I am a full marathon runner, always believing I can run to the finish line. I do face hardship, but I do believe that I may embrace the sun and rainbow after the heavy raining.

“Be a blessing to others”

Amblyopia (low vision) caused by macular degeneration at the age of 12.

After studying in New York, I joined Dialogue Experience (DE) as a tour guide and a workshop trainer in 2010. I used to think that visual impairment is a limitation. However, DE gives me an opportunity to showcase my talents and I enjoy working here, just like living with a family.

I love playing piano and listening to music. I wish my life would be like my Chinese name, meaning living happily and being a blessing to others.

“Overcome fear to success”

I became deaf due to a high fever at age 5.

When I started to work in Dialogue Experience, I was very worried about communication and working with colleagues. Surprisingly, my colleagues are very patient and empathetic, and Dialogue Experience (DE) has hired a sign language interpreter, which make me feel reassured. DE also provides various training and support to enhance my communication and cooperation skills. So now, I have confidence at work, being a workshop trainer and a host of all kinds of activities.

Despite of difficulties of being a deaf, I still pursue my interest in drama and art performances in my spare time. I wish I would perform more dramas with hearing people.

“I don’t need to save the world, but at least I can empower”

I experienced from seeing to not seeing since I was fourteen.

Initially, I felt hopeless. With others’ support, I picked myself up and went to study and work as an engineer and then as a counselor in the USA. Then I was glad to have the privilege to serve as the Deputy CEO of Dialogue In The Dark (HK) Foundation, to work with such a dynamic and compassionate team to help the community. 

I love to encourage others as I was encouraged by so many others. Therefore, I enjoy saying “good morning” and offering gifts to others as ways to spread my joy.

“I can look into the future”

Diagnosed with Macular Degeneration during primary school, resulting in an amblyopia (low vision).

I joined Dialogue in the Dark in 2012 as an assistant event manager. Besides as a Tour Guide for Dark experiences, I am also a workshop trainer to facilitate staff development workshops for corporate clients, and in charge of event planning such as Dinner in the Dark, Concert in the Dark and other occasional events.

I am so grateful that I work at a place filled with possibilities and opportunities throughout the years, where I can look into the future. I am keen to share my experiences and working on Dark Experiences, hoping to promote a more harmonious society.

“Stepping outside your comfort zone, you may gain more than you expect”

Sight loss caused by Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), I could still distinguish between light and dark.

I attained a degree in Building Services Engineering and used to work in the electrical supply field. Fortunately, in 2010, I had the opportunity to join Dialogue Experience, reentering the workplace. Working in such an amazing organization, I can promote social inclusion to the Public thorough Dark Experiences.

I never did sports in the past. And then, I created a habit of exercising originally just to achieve a healthy lifestyle. With the structural and regular training, I have run 20 full marathons up to now. I believe by stepping outside your comfort zone, sometimes you will gain more than you expect.

“Chasing My Dreams”

Due to a medical accident caused by a premature birth, resulting in an amblyopia (low vision).

I have always been very interested in the performing arts, ever since I was very young. Whether it is singing or drama, I enjoy it very much. I received many different awards and performance opportunities during my secondary school. But the reality is that my visual problems have indeed caused great difficulties and obstacles for me to pursue the path of acting, and I always think about giving up. After several years of different work experiences, I have regained a lot more confidence. I know that although I have certain disabilities, I am actually capable of facing and solving many challenges on my own. 

No matter what kind of person you are, you have the right to pursue your dreams. As long as you don’t give up and strive hard, you will always have the opportunity to be on the road to success. 

“There is always a rainbow after rain”

I have joined Dialogue Experience as Inclusion and Diversity Coach since 2022, involved in various projects including “Youth of Differences Ambassador – YODA” Project, “WISEmpower” and elderly care services. 

I suffer from Cerebral Palsy due to premature birth, and it limits the mobility of my lower limbs and sense of balance. However, I regard myself as a very fortunate person to be surrounded by the support and encouragement from my colleagues, while being able to work and do things that I love. Although I have come across numerous challenges and difficulties, I am thankful for every opportunity that made me the person who I am today. 

In my spare time, I enjoy watching TV shows, listening to music. And, I am a foodie too! I firmly believe that no matter how hard the situation may seem, there must be a colorful rainbow, and every storm shall pass. I earnestly hope to continue working with my team in the future.
